My 13-year old son has sensory integration and neurological challenges. He loves water and receives regular swimming lessons (4x per week - summer and 2x per week - winter) - so he water confident.
Despite his sensory/neurological challenges I would love to introduce him to diving.
Where will I find an understanding/patient and capable coach in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs to help me with this?
Thanks

I had epilleptic-like siezures up until I was 16, as well as arnold Chiari (sp?) syndrome where my brain grows down my brainstem further than it normally should. I was constantly told I couldn't play this or that sport because of that, but have now been diving- a LOT- for the past year. When I decided to go diving, I went to see a neurologist to be safe. Yes, it did take a little extra time, and yes it did cost me $15, but I felt better and it gave my family some reassurance as well. Now I dive at least every chance I get.

The important thing to do is, see a neurologist- NOT just seek consultation from Scubaboard members. There is a lot of great information on here, but see what his neurologist says about diving. If he doesn't know, have him refer you to a different doctor.

Good Luck!!!
