I have been diving for two years now and I am getting ready to get my first BP/W set up. I have narrowed it down to 3 that I really like. Golem's Golem 35 Lbs SS Combo, dive rites
Transplate system SCUBA Diving Equipment for Technical, Sidemount, Rebreather, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc - Product Catalog - TransPlate Harness, and dive rites deluxe harness. SCUBA Diving Equipment for Technical, Sidemount, Rebreather, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc - Product Catalog - Deluxe Harness.

Does anyone have any comments or feedback on these that may help in my decision making? I like Golem's price, and weighting systems... But at the same time I feel like Diverite may be more versatile down the road, especially the transpac, as I continue to expand my diving interests into more technical dives. The diverite system seems to be more modular and seems to have more things that I can add to it later. As well as being more adjustable (if i were to go with the transplate) which would be helpful when I change exposure suits. I like the deluxe plate because of the simplicity. Less clutter etc.

Thanks

If you are serious about moving toward more advanced (tech or cave) diving, skip the DiveRite Transpac, skip the Transplate harness and deluxe harness, go with the simplest, cheapest hogarthian harness.

Absolutely agree. I like Halcyon and Deep Sea Supply is popular around here too. I will say that I've had positive experiences with purchasing from Golem Gear and Dive Gear Express, although they can sometimes be a little slow a answering email at Golem Gear.

I've got the Golem Gear 35# wing as well as the Dive Rite Super Wing, Trek and Rec. I have a couple DR stainless back plates and one of the plastic ones as well. They all have their uses. I also support the one piece webbing philosophy.

+1 on response time from GG. I think Jakob just spends more time diving than working. Lucky guy :D

Of your list, Golem Gear. However, I would recommend considering OxyCheq and DSS as my first two choices. Go with the standard BP/W. The basic harness is fine, though for recreational diving I find the deluxe a little bit more comfortable. I have it on my warm water single wing set-up (18 pound OxyCheq wing, medium weight pockets, travel SS plate). Their 30 pound wing is also very nice. Cave adventures does a good package deal:
Cave Adventurers!, We will NOT be undersold!!!

Try Deep Sea Supply.
Tobin George, the owner, designer and manufacturer takes great pride in getting you setup correctly. He is incredibly knowledgeable and stands behind his products. To me that is really important when you buy a product like this.
I just bought a single and doubles wing from him while I was in Rhode Island.
I have been diving 24 years, and am still pretty ignorant when it comes to some of the great equipment available out there for recreational diving.
I did 11 dives with crazy amounts of neoprene (no drysuit) and he helped me out on the phone, dialing it in to a very precise rig.
Would not buy from anyone else if I had to do it over.

My respectful opinion

Disclaimer :
I have only used a Halcyon rig before this, so I cannot claim to know the other systems mentioned in this thread.
