You can get a harness, AL BP, and Halcyon 27lb wing (Dive Rite wings might be cheaper) for under $400, but you'll have to take the hour or so to assemble it yourself. I just wanted to throw that in real quick.

Rick Murchison, you suggest the Travel Wing for when diving with a single 80. I am looking at one now and the book says it has 30 lbs of lift capacity. I'm not a big guy but I wonder if that might not be a little low for anything but tropical tee shirt water. I know lift can be over-rated, but I'm not experienced enough to know how much is enough for safety. Gotta admit that the travel wing looks very elegant and is very packable.

Calculating required lift is fairly straightforward. you need enough to float you and all your gear *without the benefit of your anti-exposure suit* - this accomodates the "fully compressed" wetsuit or flooded drysuit.
For an AL 80, if your rig requires more than about 25 pounds of lead then the travel wings aren't adequate. If you're diving steel you have to add the negative buoyancy of the tank to weight carried to figure required lift.

I can dump 5 pounds when going from an AL 80 to a steel 72, 7 from AL80 to OMS 85, and 12 from an 80 to a PS95. (my PS95's have "H" valves, so that's probably one pound)
