Diver Missing at Lake Pleasant, Phoenix, AZ

PHOENIX, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Authorities are currently searching for a diver at Lake Pleasant this Saturday evening.

Maricopa County Sheriff Department spokesman Sgt. Calbert Gillett said their deputies were called out to the lake just before 6 p.m. after a group of divers reported one of their members missing.

Gillett says a group of three were diving near the dam at the southern end of the lake. One of the divers never resurfaced.

This is an ongoing search and updates will be provided as they become available.

No, this isn't a functional dam. The entire thing is below the water line. Think the sunken city in China, except this isn't nearly as cool. Top is around 20m/60ft give or take. Down to the bottom you want mix, it's around 75m/250ft and it's a twisted mess of wreckage down there. It's not hard to get entangled.

Latest report is that the ROV has found the body and they are talking recovery options now. Family has been notified but no name released yet. He's from Tucson and made the trip up.

Local news (Channel 4 Phoenix) just reported that the diver's body has been located, but the Maricopa County Sheriff's is having difficulty with recovery due to depth.

Thanks for that video, found another one by the same guys just looking around the valve house etc on the bottom, can see how you'd get into trouble down there - I've never wanted to go through a doorway more than the one at 7:24...
