This hasn't hit the news yet, but it has been confirmed on local diving facebook groups.

One diver died inside the USS Oriskany on February 28, 2025. The diver's wife posted the note below on Facebook. It is the most detailed information currently available. The deceased diver's name has been released but the news stories on his death don't mention it was a diving accident.

To those that are left behind.....

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

RIP

Fair seas and following winds.....
