Diver Dies Near Hotel Palace Beach in Dubrovnik

Apparently, he was a very experienced technical instructor.

The unconfirmed witness' accounts (presumably from the members of the group he was leading), state that a big freak wave had struck him and thrown him onto the rocks. He hit his had and it's unclear at this stage whether the blow itself was fatal, or it caused him to drown.

Very tragic.
 
sad news...condolences to family, friends and colleagues.....
 
I wonder how different the "freak wave" was from the "rough water" mentioned in the article? You can't necessarily prepare against a freak wave, but you can avoid particularly rough water especially when your entry/exit is near a rocky coast.

Very sad either way.
