Divemaster final exam (theory)

Hello,

I know that we have 2 chances to take the final test for the theory of the DM. Do you usually give the final exam A and if the student fails then you give the B one or can it be first the B one...? :huh:

afaik we can present the tests in either order. I always use A's first because I think most of the B's are slightly harder. Best bet, prepare well and pass the first time. That way your instructor doesn't have to provide extra preparation for you. (Note how I'm looking out for your instructor?)

Either test can be given first.
In many cases, especially if there are a number of candidates, the exams will be distributed randomly to reduce the chance of someone "needing help".

As far as I know, an instructor may choose to give either exam first. But why do you ask? The content you are tested on and level of difficulty is the same.

the hardest part for me was remembering arbitrary things like teaching/supervision ratios in different contexts.

You also have more than 2 chances. Standards don't dictate a maximum number of attempts.

There may only be 2 exams but that doesn't mean you only have 1 chance per exam. As with the swim tests etc, the standards are clear in the manual.

Having said that, the DM stuff is easy enough to pass without issue. If you can do the questions in the knowledge workbook you can do any question on the DM exam.

The hardest bit i found was the parrot fashion learning of ratios and things for standards. Physics etc come easy to me, its logic and a process to think through. Learning word for word ratios, numbers, paragraphs etc which aren't based on nice theory i find difficult.
