Hi guys,

I am between jobs now and I have 9 months to play around with. One of the things that has been on my bucket list for longer than I can remember is becoming a dive master. I fell in love with diving about 6 years ago and have since dived in Thailand, Egypt, UK and Australia. My budget is fairly flexible at the moment so I would looking to complete my training over 2-3 months and I am very much focussed on picking the right location. I'd like a fair balance of between good quality diving and somewhere with a nightlife - I've been contemplating either Bali or Thailand but I am very open to anything.

Could anyone offer their 2 cents and help me out please?

Thanks in advance.

Luke

The diving , in my very humble opinion , is far better in Bali and Indonesia on general than Thailand. The trouble is that in areas where there is a good nightlife the diving is not so great. The only exception so possibly the Gili Islands.

Another area you might like to consider is the Philippines , which has wonderful diving , but not as good as Indonesia.

If you do decide on Bali , go for either the Tulamben , Amed area and noth the South around Sanur.

I hope this helps a bit and that you enjoy this fantastic opportunity.

Perfect, yes I am very much leaning towards Bali, thanks for your advice. Not the South or around Sanur then?

If you are going for DM for personal satisfaction, that is one thing.....but if you are looking ar professional positions, then you'll need to go on to instructor....most of the folks we call the "divemaster" on charter boats are actually instructors. They have more training and experience, and more versatility as an employee.
