Well, since you asked...

No, I do not think hot air balloons are cool. I think the people who fly those things are a bunch of thoughtless, inconsiderate criminals who go around scaring dogs and horses, and break onto people's private property by cutting down fences and gates and drive through dry brush in extreme fire hazard areas while running over endangered species and basically ruining someone's peaceful, relaxing morning and violate the privacy of those of us on the ground. My dog, who wasn't afraid of hardly anything, was so frightened by a hot air balloon that she ran away and it took me 2 1/2 days to find her and she was injured where she ran through a barbed wire fence. I know people who's horses injured themselves from being frightened by hot air balloons. Where I lived the balloonists knew that there was no place for them to land other than on private property on in the middle of a public road, both of which are illegal. When trying to find out what my rights are as a landowner I learned about the extremely high incident rate on those things and I'm amazed that anyone is willing to pay to ride on one.

On top of that you are apparently blasting people with music which you no doubt think is cool but the people who live nearby are forced to listen to whether they want to or not. I am sick and tired of being blasted with rock and roll nearly everywhere I go.

I'm so sorry for your bad experience. The balloon festival helps raise money for local charities and over 60,000 people attend the event every year to show their support.
