Has anyone out there use DWM King Diver Package? We have dove with Martin before and have nothing but good to say about the whole op but this year we are looking into there King Diver Package which is using steel 95 with 1 hour plus bottom times and going to the less traveled sites. If anyone out there has used this package before please let me know if it is worth the extra $$.

We dove with him on his regular package and went to every dive site we wanted to San Juan north and devils throat/cathedral south. I don't know if spending the extra bucks will get you anything better.

NO, not worth it. You dive the same sites as other divers who are using AL 80's.

What about the bottom time? Do you come up with the other divers or do you get the extra BT?

Dove with him in Sept. a guy on the boat was using 95's and the rest of us were using the regular 80's. The guy with the 95 was still one of the first out of the water, anyway they will rent you the 95's without the special package and we also did any site that folks wanted to to from Devil's Throat on up and the DM let the people who were doing good on air say down as long as they wanted, and stayed with them, as long as they weren't pushing deco limits.

We came up with everyone else

If you choose the King Diver package it is not the same as diving with Martins regular divers. You get their best dive guide, a separate boat, steel 95's, and most certainly dive more advanced sites including the other side of the island. You'll go out with only two or four divers even if only two or four sign up for that package. I spoke to Martin himself about these trips myself in person last August. A LP steel 95 holds 95 cubic feet of air or Nitrox at 2400 lbs. When they're overfilled, they'll have more. An aluminum 80 needs 3000 psi to have 80 cubic feet of air. Another benefit to the steel 95 in addition to more breathing gas is their weight allows you to take 6 to 8 lbs out of your weight belt or integrated weight pockets. Both Alum 80's and Steel 95's tanks have yoke valves. The cost for King Diver is $70 for two tanks, and DWM is $50 for two tanks using air. I intend to try some of these sites on my next trip and will certainly enjoy the extra Air/Nitrox AND weight of the steel tank. Orlando is the dive guide that you want to get. Talk to Martin himself. He's got some interesting places to dive.

We had Orlando as the DM with the regular package.Yes he is a good DM! As far as length of time in the water, we were the first ones off the boat and the last ones on. Only dive we all came up together on was San Juan. Most of our dives lasted 60min or more. I guess we were just lucky to snag Orlando if you want a guarantee go with the King diver pkg.

Matt

If this is what you experienced then our experiences are vastly different. Martin had us on the boat with other regular divers and AL 80's.

Two thumbs up for Orlando here also, on my last day he knew it was our last day and made special effort to make sure i found some really nice pics for the 'ol photo album.
