Hi all,

My wife and are expecting our first child in early November (hooray!), and we are looking for a vacation spot this summer that will cater to both of us. She will not be diving, obviously, but she would like to have direct access to some good snorkeling. I would like to have great diving and be able to hang out and snorkel with her. If there were shore diving that would be great.

We visited Roatan (CCV) in January and loved it, but we would like something a little less rustic and more resort oriented given the fact that she will be getting less comfortable as the pregnancy goes on. Someplace with good options for food and other activities would be preferred.

Perhaps I'm asking a lot, but I figured if anyone has the answer it would be the members of this board. Any suggestions for destinations in general and resorts/accomodations specifically would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and happy diving!

I had the same situation last year November 2003.
We went to Bonaire and stayed at the Belmar Apartments.
We had a pretty good time.
She snorkeled on top while I dove below.
We did all shore dives. This worked out pretty good
considering the baby issue.

The Belmar is just so nice if you
are going to spend alot time just swimming
in the ocean or looking at the ocean from the patio.
PM me if want reports and/or other info.

Going back to Bonaire in October 2004, and we are going to dive our brains out.

Not that I am biased, but Cancun and the Riviera maya are very well set up, and are the opposite to Rustic. You can dive in Cozumel or the cenotes, and there is some great snorkling to be had too. The hotels are as good as you want them to be.
