My husband and I will be in Cayman Islands for 2 weeks during Christmas and New Year. We will hae a small child with us - so have to take turns diving.
Questions:
1. It is more economical for us to do a multiday package. We will be spending 10 days in a house in Georgetown and 5 days in Turtle Nest Inn (Boddentown). Question is - Is the east end diving significantly better to warrant the longer drive to get there every day or can we stick to one of the Seven Mile beach operators. (I guess North wall is out of question in december)

2. Regarding operators, - judge me all you want, but with a small child and a break in diving, I am looking for an operator who will handle my gear for me and help me out when I get back in the game, and more importantly is excited about diving and showing critters. (I paid for my lack of research for my trip to St John where we dove with DMs who said nothing excites them anymore underwater and it really showed),
A definite plus would be environmentally conscientious DMs who do not encourage touching and handling critters and who are strict about it.
Another pet peeve for me is operations which choose to go to the same sites over and over either to save money on gas or that they just don't care.

Any recommendations based on the above criteria?

Dusty & Lisa at Dive 'n' Stuff fit all your criteria.

East End is not significantly "better" but it is significantly different - a sheer wall with long, winding swim-thrus cut into it. I would take a day to drive down to Ocean Frontiers and dive there.

For the days you are staying at the Turtle Nest Inn the drive out to East End would be no further, and probably would be faster, than a drive into town. That drive is against the prevailing flow of morning traffic. Ocean Frontiers or Tortuga Divers are out east. OF will take care of the gear for you.

I would say work with a SMB operator when you're in GT and an East End operator when you're in Bodden Town. You'll find that, as a general rule, the dive ops on Grand Cayman are more environmentally aware than they are in many other places.

I was just on island and could not respond to your questions for some computer related reason.

I own at Turtle Nest Inn/Condos so if you have any questions in reference to them I am sure I can help.
I do all of my diving with DNS Diving (Dusty Norman) he fits your criteria very well, they rarely dive the same site twice in a week unless requested ,he is adapt at pointing out the interesting stuff, they have three boats which pretty much means they have a boat positiones somewhere on island to beat the weather. They will handle your gear so you don't need to lug it back and forth .Also as a bonus he will pick up and drop off at Turtle Nest Inn/Condos .

One other thing is that Tutlle Nest Inn/Condos has arranged with him for dive packages so it might be considerably cheaper to dive with him.You can ask Alex777 about his operation also.I have been diving with him because they run a fun boat and they ask for input on where you would like to go etc.
