Dive trip after Fiji

We will be diving at Beqa in April 2012 and then looking to fly to Australia for a week of diving. Husband cannot do a liveaboard so looking for other options. Trying to get info on Heron Island but looking at other options. Would like a non-cattle car operation recommendation as well as accommodations. Thinking the Cairns area may be good for 3 - 4 days of diving and then some exploration??? Appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks!
