A few years ago, when trying to research for an upcoming trip, I ran across some DVDs that turned out to be some of my favorite sourches for information. I think they provide great travel ideas for anyone and for us, they have been a determining factor for a couple of trips.
The videos are by a group called ScubaCore. You can get them on Amazon.com which is where I got them.

ScubaCore Volume 1 - travels to Socorro Islands on SolmarV, BVIs on the Cuan Law, Yap, and Tobago

ScubaCore Volume 2 - Truk Lagoon, Bonaire, Cay Sal Bank on the Nekton (this is the reason we bought this DVD), and Wakatobi in Indonesia

ScubaCore Volume 3 - Bali, Kona Aggressor, Costa Rica, and Turks & Caicos on the Explorer liveaboard(probably one of our next trips)

Another group of videos people might want to check out are by Dive Portal Magazine - Richie Kohler and John Chatterton. I have the first two DVDs and they are okay, not quite as good as theScubaCore videos but still worth getting if you are interested in the places they visit.

There are also all the Howard Hall videos available and I have most of those. You can get all of these online.

I have several dozen DVDs of diving and whenever I am on land too long, I just pull out one of these videos and it makes me feel better. :D

I agree 100% Robin! I love scubacore DVDs and wish that Anat would get back from maternity leave and put out the next issue! We also have Dive Portal and a couple of obscure ones of Truk Lagoon and the Florida Keys. It's fun to see the video of the Spiegel Grove on her side!

Between trips it's great to pull out a dive DVD and live vicariously. :)

I agree about Anat. I keep checking their website once a month to see if there is any updates on when issues 4 and 5 come out. It doesn't seem to be a priority to them. :(
One thing that I love about the ScubaCore videos is that after visiting a few of those very places, I realized how TRUE they are. There is no fluff or BS to them, it is really the way the places/dives are. I appreciate that. When you watch the videos on some websites (like Aggressor's) you realize that those videos are cuts from at least a years best dives. They give a slanted view of the destinations that you have to take with a grain of salt.

2 months til Nekton Bahamas!

I agree w/ you Robin. When I want to get an idea of what a week of diving is like, I watch videos made by hobbyists like you and I.

thanks Ron!
I agree about watching hobbyists videos. You really should check out the ScubaCore DVDs for that reason - they don't look like polished propoganda, they look like a group of people giving their honest opinions on places and show what the dive sites are like.
