So let's see how we use the tables to plan the second dive after our 35 minute stay at 60 feet. We plan on a surface interval of half an hour, and then go see another reef that's 50 feet down. Using the PADI table, we find that the first dive put us into pressure group N. We follow "N" into table 2 and then find the column for a 30 minute surface interval. That would be column F.

-----

At group N I move my finger over to where it says: 0:25 - 0:30. That puts me in group I, not F.

The exam is in a week and I need to learn this table.

Thanks for the help,
Vilhelm

Don't worry vilhelm, you're correct. So are they though! You ARE in pressure group I. You are being told that the column to look at is that with an F at the top. You aren't being told you're in pressure group F. Okay ?

You should go over the information again with your instructer and if you still don't get it have him show you.

Hi Vilhelm, and welcome to ScubaBoard!

Assuming I'm not too rusty with my tables, it looks to me like you're correct. A dive to 60 ft for 35 min results in Group N. After a 30-min surface interval, you'd be in Group I.

Typo on that web site?

Did you get separate practice materials for the RDP with your PADI OWD course? That stuff isn't in your manual in any detail.

If you're looking for a great resource to drill table use, check out Scuba Toys' Table Tutor here. Download it, and if you're a ScubaBoard member (and you are now!), they'll send you an unlock code for free vice the $14.95 list price.

Good guys.

Sorry vilhelm. I just looked at the website you provided the link for and I agree. They point to the correct column, ie F but then mistakenly look at pressure group F on the next table. You are correct that the pressure group (from column F) to use on the next table is I.

Thanks for the welcome Marek, and thanks for the help guys. We were told to read up on the dive table at home. He just did a quick review of it. :)

I would go back to that Instructor and tell him " I am paying you to teach me not have me home study".

I am all about the home study and teaching of diving so don't get me wrong but...
Sometimes the tables are best covered in person.

DiveMaven:
Check out ScubaToys' website for their Table Tutor. Larry will send you a code to use it as a ScubaBoard member (or at least he used to).
I just did this with Joe at ScubaToys. He was able to give me an unlock code.
