Coming from the UK, you might be used to the colder climes... However, we're going to have an air temp high of 52 here tomorrow (Atlanta), and even the top thermocline on Lanier will probably be in the low 50's (if you're lucky).

So... unless you're dry suit diving...

I'm doing a Rescue cert in two weeks in Lanier, and won't have a choice (I'm hoping it warms a bit first, with warmer weather moving in).

dude

I've been diving in Lanier almost every other week since the middle of november, and I'm diving wet. As are a number of folks on here :-) I just wear 7mm with hood and gloves. I've seen it as low as 48 degrees at 80', but its usually a few deg warmer...

did my rescue at vortex in feb....water was warm but it was 48 degrees during SIT! 38 degrees and blowing snow a few weeks ago at Keowee. master class at pelham in two weeks, probably be coooold water then too. sigh, boss won't let me buy a dry suit till next year.

so, comming :-)

Good luck to ya... dude...

I prefer keeping the icicles hanging off my ears to a minimum... (I'm cold-natured... prefer the warmth of the Keys on up..)

Perhaps in a month or so, would enjoy going muck-diving in Lanier with you...

Pfffft.... I was out there diving wet when the water was 42* and the air temp was 33*. 52* is balmy. :14:

yeah, I'm looking at the wind too.... D&D

Wind what wind? Oh, that was what was making the 3' seas in our lake today:11: Seriously, two of us enjoyed our lake today with no boats to be seen - perhaps this should have been a sign :D . However, we ended up with a great dive (Clark Hill -see post in Dixie Divers).

Really... diving wet, no less...

There's a definition for that, you know...

mas·och·ism: pleasure in being abused...: a taste for suffering
- mas·och·ist javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?masoch03.wav=masochist') /-kist/ noun
- mas·och·is·tic /"ma-s&-'kis-tik, "ma-z&- also "mA-/ adjective
- mas·och·is·ti·cal·ly javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?masoch05.wav=masochistically') /-'kis-ti-k(&-)lE/ adverb

;)
