I recently purchased a Dive Rite Trans Pac 2 from a diving instructor and was looking for Quick release weight for the BC. Im new to diving and im not sure what my options are for integrated weights for this BC. It has a few weight pouches on it but i would like to have the quick release weights if they are availble.

Also are there any options for dealing with a waist buckle that occasionally rides up my torso while diving. Maybe a strap or something that could alleviate this problem?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

I used the DR TransWeight 16 weight system with a TransPlate recently, I thought it was a pretty good system. It would be easily ditchable and the 16 didn't take up a lot of space on the harness. That was with a steel plate and steel tank with a 3mm suit in saltwater, I didn't need a lot of extra weight anyway.

The pockets on the 32 would've been too large IMO, unless for some reason that much weight was absolutely necessary. Not exactly sure how that would translate to a TransPac and AL80 with a thicker wetsuit.

Minor threajack, does anyone else hate the new DR website? :11:

Yeah, they actually went through two new designs in quick succession. I very much prefer the old rather ugly but easy to navigate one (it included a rather unnecessary, thinly disguised attack on Cochran computers).

So would you all suggest for me to get the 16 or 32 for warm water diving. Im new to diving but as of now i use about 8 pounds of weight in fresh water. Which ive been told translates to about 12 pounds or so in salt water. Which would u recomend?

Before buying the TransWeight 16 or 32, see if you can borrow a set. Perhaps the instructor has some pouches you can try out to see if you like them.

Since you're primarily diving warm water, you're not carrying that much weight. You may find out that you prefer not to have weight integrated pouches on your waist. The TransWeight system is not cheap, regardless of where you buy it.

We dive with the TransPacs, and use weight belts for warm water dives. For us, the weight pouches (granted they're 32s) added clutter.

And I second the recommendation on a crotch strap.

Larry at Scuba Toys will probably give you a good deal:

For the waist buckle problem, try a crotch strap. Dive Rite offers them in 1" or 2" webbing.

Not much to add to this reply, it covers it all.

I got the 32# pouches and use only 6# ditchable weight for my dives, 3# at the bottom of each pouch, I only dive warm water with a 3mm.

The rest of the space inside the pouches is used to store items such as a sausage, a mini strobe, goodybag, gloves before the dive and any other small item I may need in the dive, everything is cliped to the internal Dring just in the remote case I need to ditch the weight, so all my gear won't get ditched too.

The 1" crotch strap is great with my BP or my Trans Pack.

Hope this helps.

I just bought a dive rite back plate and harness and I tried to use the deep outdoors weight system(mechanical release). I didn't like them at all. They were way to big and almost impossible to reload if you were in the water. I like the mechanical system on my Knighthawk does anyone make a system similar to this but in a more compact harness friendly set up?
