Does anyone have anything to say about the Dive Rite Rec Pac BC? I am thinking of getting one, but have not read much about it (except for specs on the dive rite homepage). Would this be a good BC for occasional rec diving in warm waters?

If you are going to spend the money on a new BC, why don't you just go to a backplate/harness/and a single tank wing. I looked at the dive rite website and the rec pac just kinda looked like an evolutionary stepping stone between the jackst style BC and a backplate system.

Wendy, thank you for your reply. The reason I am looking at the Rec Pac is that I kind of have decided to go with a jacket style BC already.

wendy,

The way I understand it is that the DiveRite Transpac was developed after the BP harness system (which DiveRite also sale).

Having spoken to Lamar Hires about the BP harness system over the Transpac he raised a few points for going for a Transpac that I hadn't considered. These are:

Easier to configure for side mounts, the wing is secured underneath the transpac and acts as a spreader (not sure but I pressume that if you side mount a BP you need a spreader?).

The Transpac is more flexible than the BP and therefore moves with your boddy.

Due to the soft nature of the Transpac it's not likely to get trapped into a slot when side mounting.

Lighter = better for travelling

Lighter = better for double & stage diving (pressume that if you've got a SS BP and twin SS tanks you could be overweighted).

Think that's it.

Thanks - Dave.
