U could buy the DR TPII & use a smaller wing from another maker Halcyon, OMS, Oxyque ect..
A wing is just an aircell they are all good & do the job. :doctor:

Hey Guppy...

Did you purchase the TPII set up from LP? I'm contemplating the same purchase myself.

Thanks...

Kawika

No I haven't I have a dive Trip in Hawaii this coming febuary so I thought I would try renting that equipment (ScubaPro) first, just so I have something to compare the TPII too.

Guppie,

There is a very different feel from a Scubapro Classic BC in which the air in the air cell rotates around as you change position and a back bouyancy rig like a transpac with wings. Both setups you mention are very nice and if like most people you do virtually all your diving with single tanks it would be hard to go too wrong with either one. You are smart to try them both out and see if you like the rotating air pocket feel of the Classic before buying.

I dive a transpac with travel wings and really like that setup. I purchased a used Scubapro Classic to try it out and found that I prefer the Transpac/wings setup. If you will do most of your diving using single tanks or when traveling, the travel wing is very compact and provides plenty of lift.

I purchased the integrated weight pockets for the transpac and ended up taking them off my rig and going back to a weight belt. Using a weight belt I can place the weights over my kidney's which helps to keep more of an upright position in the water at the surface with a fully inflated wing. I found the integrated weight pockets to be a bit bulky for my taste. I also put one of the two zipper pockets on the transpac and find it usefull for holding a small light, signal mirror, slate or other stuff I want to stow away.

If you end up buying the transpac from Leisure Pro you should verify that the wings will come with the inflator hose. I believe some time ago they were selling the wings and inflator hoses separately. This may no longer be the case.

Hello,

My TPII came in yesterday, I bought it from LP with the rec wings. Yes the wings maybe overkill but I suspect i'll grow into them quite nicely.

The wings came seperate from the BC, some assembly required! The inflator hose came standard with it as well. Now as for the age i'm not sure how someone can say their new bc is 3 years old. Care to explain that one?

I bought the same package from LP and have been nothing but happy with it. It is the grey area between a BP/Wing and I absolutely love my rig. I will post a picture if someone wants me too, but I'm sure everyone has seen the TPII. It was my first BC purchase and could very well be my last. I have gone from Basic Open Water all the way through with Deco and not one person has told me that I needed a new BC. Even the DIR guys have a lvl of respect for the TPII, at least the ones I have spoken with. I think it is a great rig and would recommend it. It will grow with you in any and all of your diving ventures. Hope this post was of some help.
