North Shore Frogmen
Guest
The North Shore Frogmen hit The Salem Willows last Saturday for a wonderful "Junk Dive" in Historic Salem Harbor. Five divers (2 in wet suits) braved the cold to explore the Willows pier, with 4 top-side as beach support. This is usually an awesome site when the ocean clears up and viz is at it's best. Parking is ample and it is only a short walk to a sandy beach enterance.
Conditions:
Air Temp was 26, but with the wind chill it felt more like 11
Water Temp was a balmy 32-34
Viz was 15 ft
Bottom time was about an hour
M.D found a moutian bike (See photo)
K.F found a fishing rod (See photo)
P.E landed 2 nice bugs, one was about 3-1/2 lbs and a scallop.
An assortment of old bottles, plates, junk, and some large starfish also made up the rest of the bottom composition.
Some of the crew then retired to the local pub for lunch and drinks afterwards.
