First post! I figure I'll sart this off with a report from a great dive.

Last Satuday, my regular buddy and I went to Eagle's Nest for the first time. Conditions have been fickle, so we took a gamble on it.

After we got kitted up and did our pre-dive check and discussion, we swam along the bottom toward the middle of the surface pool. It slopes down at about a 30 degree angle to 30ish feet, then the bottom opens up into a solution tube that goes for about 10 feet straight down. The amazing size of the cave hit me at this point.

All of a sudden, we found ourselves in a black void. The top of the debris cone was barely visible (the sign was the only prominent feature). Complete dark on all sides. Continuing our decent, I tied off at the top of the cone and we headed toward the downstream tunnel.

We leveled off at 160ft, hit the wall above the downstream tunnel, and started swimming to the left. The size of this cave is beyond description. After what seemed like a matter of seconds, our planned bottom time was reached and we reeled back to the cone and started our ascent.

Deco profile was as follows:

160 15m 21/35
110 1
100 1
90 1
80 1
70 4 50%
60 3
50 2
40 2
30 3
20 6
and 6 to the surface.

We exteneded our times a bit just to err on the side of caution (we're still new at deco), and we spent a few minutes at 165 pokin' around. Vis was in the 30-40ft range with a lot of particulate in the water.

Safe diving,
AJ
