I'm going to be staying in Shaka's Rock and St. Lucia in the north coast of South Africa in September 2004. I would like to do some diving while there but have had difficulty finding dive shops that might serve the area. The only place I've found so far (that is that isn't too far away) is "Dive Nautique" which is in Umhlanga. That will probably be close enough for me while staying in Shaka's Rock, but I'd really like to find something closer while staying in St. Lucia.

Does anyone have any information about dive operators in these areas and any contact information for them?

P.S. I know that Sodwana is very close to St. Lucia, however from what I've been able to determine a person can't drive to Sodwana by going through St. Lucia and I'd have to drive around which would make this a very long "day trip" (plus, I've already dove Sodwana :^).

Thanks for any help,
Dan

I'm not going to be much help as far as diving is concerned, but AFAIK there aren't many (if any) dive operators dealing in St Lucia dives. If I were you, I'd contact the Kwa-Zulu Natal Parks Board for more info (www.kznwildlife.com). St Lucia estuary is managed by them. Alternatively contact the Rocktail Bay Dive Centre (info@sdn.wilderness.co.za).

There are a couple of Natalians on Scubaboard who are more likely to provide better info than me.

If you'd like I can phone around for you....

Simon,

Thanks for the info.
I leave for RSA tonight so I'm kind of out of time. Guess I'll look around when I get there. :^)

Thanks for your suggestions,
Dan
