Dive Operator Recommendations (Cozumel)

Walking north from the terminal, these come to mind. Babieca at El Cid la Ceiba hotel (~10 min walk from stepping off cruise ship) may be the closest - the only reason I mention (not recommend) them. Another 4-5 minute walk gets you to Julio Kin Scuba and Roberta's Scuba Shack (several boats, well organized), both across the street from the Grand Park Royal. Another couple of minutes gets you to Jungle Divers located by the Palmar Condos.
Dive with Martin used to be at the International Pier, but moved to Marina Fonatur during the pandemic - this was supposed to be a temporary move, but I haven't seen anything that says they are back at the pier. They also are usually going out at 7:30 am which may be before you can debark.

I strongly recommend Roberta's Scuba Shack, about 2-3 blocks north!

I've dove with Aldora divers many times in Cozumel, but not off a cruise ship. I do know we've often stopped and picked up divers at various docks.
Scuba XOC is the dive shop I used and highly recommend.
It's a 5-10 min walk from the ship to where the cabs are located.
If memory serves me correctly it's about a 10-15 min ride and it's $10 ish dollars, make sure you bring small bills because the taxi drivers may not have change. Most of the dive shops are in the same area.

+1 for Julio Kim. I have dove with him a few times when he would rent himself out to another dive shop, and at his shop. Great guy and fits your bill.

I have added them to my spreadsheet Dive ops by jonhall Do you have some current info about them that their website doesn't provide such as tank sizes available, is nitrox available, where surface interval is done, length of dives, do they pick up by boat from other piers, do they provide transportation to/from hotels, do they have a dive shop/location, etc.....?

I suggest Blue Note Scuba with their fast boat. It's a short taxi ride as I don't think any ops can pickup at the cruise terminals.

I'm going to be stopping at Coz during a cruise in late August of this year ('24). I appreciate all the good info and will check out Blue Note.
If anyone else has gone diving while stopped in Coz on a cruise ship since March, I'd love to hear about it.

From the cruise port you have about a 5-10 min walk to get to where the taxis are. Along the way you pass many stores, fight the urge to buy anything going out as you don't want to delay getting in the water, WAIT until you return. Also bring small bills as the cab drivers may not have change. When I went I was in front of another group of divers, they saw my Cressi gear bag and we struck up a conversation, we ended up sharing a taxi to the marina. So from the marina there is about a 10-15 min drive to where all the dive shops are. Once you find your shop and get checked in, you get a briefing, are taken to your boat and away you go.
While each dive shop is different, it seems like everyone will get in 2 dives in the morning. Once you are done, they will help you clean your gear, which is very helpful. By them cleaning your gear all you have to do is hang it up when you get back to your cabin. So that being said, make sure you pack hangers for your wetsuit and BC. If you have a balcony you may wonder about hanging things outside to get a good drying. I hung up everything while we were still in port but once we got underway, I brought my wetsuit, gloves and boots inside as I didn't want to chance anything getting blown overboard. My BC is heavy so I felt comfortable leaving it hanging on the balcony while at sea.
Getting back to finishing up your dive, from my experiences a two tank dive gives you plenty of opportunity to see a lot and you get back to the ship and thru security in plenty of time. Resist the urge to try and do 4 dives, that is really pushing it too close. With my 2 tank dive I had enough time to get back to the ship, go thru security make it back to the cabin, get the wife and go back to the shops on the pier for some souvenir shopping. So that being said make sure you communicate with the dive shop your ships schedule and what you want to do. The dive shops are pretty good about getting you back on time.
So hope this helps out, good luck and have fun! I prefer booking dives myself because the ships dive excursions can be a jumble of people from what I've heard.
