Anyone have suggestions for a good Dive Operator in Puerto Aventuras.

We are staying at the Palace and would like to do 3 days of diving.

Thanks!
DiverRick

Experience level and type of diving desired?

Dive Aventuras is the "house" dive op, based at the Hotel Omni -- never done anything with them but have had long talks with Nils, the owner (?), and like him.

Aquanauts is the "indie" dive op at PA but is now under new management. They tend to have fewer people on their boat than D.A.

Dennis Weeks, former owner of Aquanauts, Diablo Divers, is great if you want to do some Cenote Tours. In fact, I'd write to Dennis, Pez de Diablo here on ScubaBoard, and ask his advice.

I have dove with both Aquanauts and Dive Aventuras. I liked them both.
Dive Aventuras has several boats, goes out to the dive sites in PA and has a lot of choices for dive times during the day. The times that I went out with them there were 6 to 8 divers on board with one or two DMs to 4 to 6 ppl. We always returned to the Omni for the SIT since it is only 5 to 10 mins from the dive sites.
The one time that I went out with Aquanauts there were 10 people, one DM and we went to Playa to dive. I liked the fact that they went to Playa just to see the different sites, since I had dove about 30 times with Dive Aventuras in the PA bay and just wanted to see somewhere else for comparison.
They both have good rental gear and are located within a block radius of each other.
Have fun.

We did a week with Dive Adventuras in August of 2008. Great bunch of people, very accommodating to all level of divers in our group of about a dozen people of all skills and ages. DM's and boat drivers all top notch. Have fun!

Thanks, for the replies. We are advanced divers with over 150 dives each. I am leaning towards Aquanauts as we are looking for max bottom time.
Thanks,
Diver Rick

for bottom time definitely aquanauts. they go out every day at 9, 11:30 and 2. great operation under the new owners, too.

Ditto on DA, we've dove with them three times over the past five years, and have always been impressed with their service. They also offer cenote dives with their in-house expert Mario (I hope he's still with them).

Dove this Aquanauts in November. Great dive op. Mario is still there too. Loved this dive op as they do not rush you, and they don't care on bottom time at long as you don't deco.

We just dove 8x with Dive Aventuras and had a good time.
Mario is still there and does the Cenotes.

Our profiles were typical reef first one deeper to 65-80 feet
second one to about 60.

I had just over 7 hours bottom time for the 8 dives (and I am an air hog).
