We are looking for a GOOD Dive OP in Dominica. I know the diving is good just need some one reliable to drop us into the water.

Also we will be in Barbados this cruise. We have dove here before with the ship OP, it was terrible. Just wondering if any one has a good recommendation for a dive OP and is there really good diving in Barbados. I read there is, and would love to do it.

We just returned from 20 days in Tahiti, if you want to see some of the dive photos heres a link:

Thanks for your suggestions,

Thanks Scott,

I will check them out. Have you dove with them??

We have been to Barbados by cruise ship 3 times and we have dove only once. Very odd for us as we never miss diving any where. OK Jamaica is a miss. Been there and don't plan to dive this trip.

Debbie got stung by jelly fish last time in Barbados, but still managed to dive the second dive and the rest of the trip. We had DAN insurance and they paid the $400 bill for the cruise ship doctor to treat her.

We had a great time snorkeling with turtles there last time. I free dive to 20-30 feet so had a great time feeding them. We have dove all over the Caribbean and we hear it's not really great diving and from our experience it seems mediocre at best. It dosen't seem to make any dive magazines as a dive site either.

Thanks to you and any one else for their input.

Have dived with Dive Dominica, Anchorage and Nature Island Dive – they were all good. Nature Island run small six-pack-style boats and nip around Scott's Head to dive the rougher side, different topography, more pelagics, etc.

On Barbados, dived with Pete at West Side Scuba. Stavronikita is one of the Caribbean's best wreck dives, the Pamir is alright as a shallower version, and some of the deeper reefs are teeming with life. Yes, some of the shallow reefs are crap, but I saw as much, if not more, marine life on 30m plus on the deeper reefs than I have seen virtually anywhere in the Caribbean.

Barbados Blue. Did this on a cruise in October. They are not affiliated with the cruise line. Had a great time!

I also recommend Dive Dominica:

Good boat, friendly group...they picked up divers from the cruise ship a few of the days we were there. They pointed out sea horses and frog fish for us. Try to do a night dive with them, if you have time. Well worth it!

Have fun!

I second that vote for Barbados Blue, I dove with them for a week in Summer.

They have two nice boats, one is panga styled and the other is a pontoon style.
They have a top-notch staff and Barbados has some really good diving. They also have great turtle opportunities, I did not do one dive in Barbados where I didn't see a turtle.

I personally am a huge fan of Carlisle Bay, I think it is impossible to find a better dive with multiple wrecks together at such a shallow depth, on such an easy dive, anywhere else. Lots of good things to see around them there wrecks.

On Dominica, I like East Caribe Dive Club in Salisbury. Mid-Island, interesting little-dived reefs, both North and South. They are very laid back and easy to get along with. A modest but very useful operation.

I second Carlisle Bay. The trick for you would be getting there and getting tanks.
You might consider John Moore of Dive Barbados Ltd as well.
