My wife and I are booked on a 5 day liveaboard on the Great Barrier Reef. My wife has had to start some prescription drugs and requires to have a dive medical that conforms to Australian Standard 4005.1. I have until June 14th to cancel and get 70% of my money back if she cannot pass the medical.

Does anyone know any doctor in the GTA that can perform such medical assessment. Of course our family physician is on a 1 year leave but I'm not sure if he could/would fill out such forms.

The form can be found here

Thanks

Sean

Sean, you may want to contact Roman at Innerspace in Pickering. The doctor that he refers some of his students to (sorry can't remember his name) is an active diver and might be able to help you with this form.

Good Luck
Marcin

Go to a walk in clinic they can sign you off on that medical its not to detailed, just take the PADI or other agency medical form with you. A professional medical such as those done for commercial divers will run you over $500 Cash and is not covered by Ohip and unnecessary for recreational sport diving. Have fun dive safe.

Here is the email I got from Taka (Deep Sea Divers Den)

For a certified diver it’s not required to be a dive medical according to Australian Standards, but it needs to be signed off by a DIVE PHYSICIAN and it needs to clearly state “FIT TO SCUBA DIVE”.

However, under certain medical conditions we still reserve the right to assign a dive guide to dive with you.

I have found a couple.

My wife has an appointment with Dr. Rhonda Wilansky in Mississauga on Wed.
