Is anyone aware of any decent stand-alone computer software out there that's specifically designed for keeping your dive log? I know that a lot of the new computers are "downloadable", but mine isn't. Even if I spring for a new one, I still have 18 yrs of old dives on paper.

I'm really looking for something that will help me put it all together in one place. My wife has just gotten into diving & she's really getting gung-ho about doing the specialty courses & additional certifications together (once she catches up to my cert level). I was never anything close to a "dive log nazi", so I have to admit, my "logs" are an embarrasing collection of old, water/coffee-stained log books, cocktail napkins, loose sheets, photos & notes. What a mess!

Any ideas?... or am I going to have to write my own software here?

Mate, i can honestly testify that http://www.divinglog.de is THE BEST PC (and PPC) based software currently available. I have tried quite a few "trial" versions of various software, mainly because my dive computer's software is less than, well...less than what dive PC software should be. To buy the "full" version isnt very expensive really... and it can import dives from many dive computers (or grab an exported version from your dive computers software if necessary, such as in my case). I know you said you cant from your dive computer, but maybe one day some-one will get a nice new dive-comp for chrissy :D

check it out, download it, its a free trial, no adware crap etc etc (and no, i'm not affiliated with it, but i sure wish i was!!)

oh, and if you do write your own software, i bags Beta testing!! :14:

I use Suunto's Dive Manager software. My computer isn't downloadable, either, but it allows you to input the information via keyboard. It's free, and easy to use.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I looked at both the suggestions, and I went ahead & bought the Divelog 4.0 software that Masterfish recommended. It looks like exactly what I need. It can import from a bunch of different dive computers, allows you to enter data manually (& attach scanned versions of the original log pages), it even allows for exports to Excel. I think it will be perfect. If I find out any contraindications, though, I'll be sure to post them.

Wahoo! Now I don't have to look like a slob when I walk into my LDS looking for more certs.

Just FYI, I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure you can download the software for ScubaPro/UWATEC computers ("SmartTrak") for free from their website. Technically you are supposed to use it with their computers, so I doubt it will work with yours specifically, but if yours is not computer-aware, and you are entering info manually anyway, I don't see how that matters. It works, and it's free. :-) The other may or not be better, but I just thought you might like to check out another option before spending money, if it's not too late.
