Hey all,

I am looking to purchase a dive light but not sure what is a good choice. I dive alot of Freshwater, mainly quarries where the viz is limited to 8 feet sometimes. Got any suggestions? Larry? are you out there?

Led lights are cool and the batteries will last for hours. I use a niterider Blackwater at Lake Powell viz here gets that bad and this light works good but it is a costly light. They have a Swiftwater that uses LED and a 15 watt light my dive buddy uses (its a good lite to). We use a head bands but remember don't look directly at your partner cause they brite and it takes a long time for your eyes to readjust. There are lots of choices out there I wonder what they will say about Niteriders Lites. Good luck

I'd agree with the previous posters... starting with big, bright and expensive, then working back, the UK Light Cannon, the Princeton Tec LED Shockwave, the C8 LED, then you into a standard C8 or Shockwave.

That would be my choices in order - and it's pretty much you get what you pay for there, starting on the high side of about 150 and working down to below 50.

Dive light suggestions:

Diet.

I carry a PCm lite as a day/"handy poking in nooks and crannies of a quarry"/back-up light, with a UK SL6 as my "main" light for night dives.

Both have fairly narrow, but penetrating beams which I prefer for bad vis. The bigger brighter lights have wider beams that seem to bounce a lot of light back to me..
