I just don't log dives
I am a solo diver and have been for about fifty years. I'm going to be doing a lot of drift diving in assorted fresh water springs this summer and am thinking about a dive float flag. I know I have to use one and have a nice easy to tow one, however it can't carry anything onboard. Some of these planned drift dives will last for a couple of hours at least, probably more. Disposable wrappers and drink containers will get you into major trouble on some of those springs but canteens and flasks are fine.

I started thinking about those little fishing boat floats where the fisherman sits in it with his legs dangling in the water. Has anybody ever tried using one of those for snorkeling or drift diving? It could carry your empty tank, a spare tank, a little anchor, a canteen, etc. You could even sit in it yourself if you got tired. Yeah, I know the wind would cause problems in the open but it's on a river with jungle on both sides. Thoughts?

One of these is similar to what I used for classes..... Or you can just make one with an inner tube and a burlap sack.

Better deal from Mako.

I was looking at one of Nevada Float tubes by Caddis Sports. I've got a line on a new bright yellow one for cheap. They come with two big cargo pouches, a fishing pole holder which would work great as a flag holder and they're designed to sit in with your legs hanging in the water. They're larger than the Scuba Floats and could easily hold two tanks, lunch, a six pack of brews, extra pack of smokes and my laptop. Nah, just kidding but a tank and a canteen anyways.

Sh!t yeah, there's a years worth, you gonna get wrinkly

i ordered one of these exact ones in green. Not as bright a color as I wanted but brand new for thirty bucks I'll tie orange ribbons on it.

Yeah, I thought about one of the plastic inflatable boats wanted something more purpose built like the XS Dive float or this fishing floaty chair. It's got a heavy nylon skin for better protection.
