Hello, my name is Jean-Marie and with my team develop a GPS for divers.
We strongly believe that this equipment is needed to increase our safety.
We were developing this localization system for about two years here in France, the country that produces bad movies but excellent engineers ( and lovers)
We know that, in the past couple of years some other similar projects were trying to hit the market: the (in development) acoustic GPS "Navimate" or a wired GPS for diver "Navdive".
With my team, we focused on the acoustic part of our GPS system, and we achieved high accuracy localization with very low cost technique but advances signal processing algorithms. Some improvements are still needed, of course, but it work underwater in a range of tens of meters. A friendly user interface is our next goal.
If you think that we (scuba divers) need an GPS underwater, running Androïd, please vote for us in the Silicon Valley's "Robot Hub" contest where we are currently semi-finalist.
The vote is due to tuesday September 1st at 11:59pm. Here is the link to support us (project Underwater GPS) :
Robot Launch 2015 Robohub Readers Pick round three | Robohub
You can also have a look to our Website. http://submarine-open-technologies.com
If you have some questions, we can answer to them.
Thank-you
Jean-Marie
