My interest is in looking for a way to keep the LDS in business.
Is anyone aware of any LDS in the US that are member owned?

Something on the line of REI?

Do you think this would work?

I have read that in Europe there are dive clubs and the members get air fills and equipment through the club and instruction through the LDS.

This might be a way to bridge the gap between internet sales vs LDS prices.

Sounds good to me. I'm not aware of anything like that in the USA involving Dive Shops.

REI's are awesome. I have't been to one since I was in Austin but I've heard there is one in Nashville now.

I actually made a small effort to start such a thing. When I closed my store I set things up at the house and offered to give free access to those who were willing to share expenses. The idea was to provide an affordable alternative to the run of the mill shop.

Most people don't seem to want to put in the effort or money.
