Dive case

I the stock case for a hero3 good or do I need the special dive case?

It depends.

The standard case is depth "limited" to 40m, albeit that is plenty for me. I picked up the dive housing, rated to 60m as I liked the more substantial clasp and the Flip 3.1 attaches to it directly instead of requiring a shim for the standard case.
