Both

A dive bag for the big stuff
A pelican box for small things like a save-a-dive kit, bandages, batteries, wallet, etc. It's lockable.

String bag for all the big stuff
tupperware for everything I need to keep dry.

A large box for when I drive/shore dive... doubles as soaking/rinse bin on the way home
A net bag for boat dives... I usually assemble my rig at the truck then walk onto the boat fully assembled. The bag is for the small things... mask, fins ect

Bag for boat dives. It folds up after being emptied and stores nicely. Big rolling boxes that don't fit under seats are a pain on charter boats. Even if the box does fit under the seat, it's then taking up room that would be better used to store gear like fins between dives.

I do use a couple boxes in my car trunk to keep the wet gear from dripping all over he trunk.

Bag for boat dives. Tupperware bin for the vehicle. Put the wet stuff in it and good for soaking gear when on a trip. Frees up the bathtub.

I also use a bag for baot diving to save on space and then have a larger box for the shore diving. I find the box more convenient for storing on overnight camping trips and such.

I suggest Bags for Boats and two Big Plastic Tubs for the vehicle. I get the same size Tubs and put one in the other like they stack them in the store. The one my gear actually goes into has holes drilled into the bottom so the water can drip into the second one it is sitting in.
