I am currently looking at purchasing a Diva LX BCD Does anyone have any pros or cons about this BCD. I would love to hear a womens opinion.

I've had my Diva LX for almost a year and absolutely LOVE IT! I tried on just about every ladies BC before I decided on the Diva. The jacket is cut short enough for me and the absence of the chest strap is what I consider a real plus. The pockets are roomy and there are plenty of D Rings. The "jacket/back inflate" configuration is the best of both worlds.

I also own one and love it! I have dove over 100 dives with it and have had no issues whatsoever. The only con in my opinion is the fact that is seems to take up a little more space than I would like when traveling, but I can definitely deal with that. If the BC fits you well I would highly recommend it.

This is the most comfortable BC that I tried on. It fits my body so well and the padding in the back area really makes diving more comfortable.

The only con that I can find is the D ring placement, it's too far up front. Also the pockets may be large (I've fit two hoods in mine once!) but they can be hard to get into.

This being said, I love my Diva and I would buy another one in a heartbeat. It's got what they call a dragonfly design, so it's not all back inflate or side inflate. It's a nice combination that doesn't squeeze you too tight. The weight pockets are really nice too, no more weight belt, that's a nice plus.

I have the LX Diva with the Sure Lock. I just love it. The comfort and fit are worth every penny. I agree with Bubbleslan. This BC does not pack as well as other, but it is a small price to pay, IMHO. Go for the sure lock, I heard others complain about the velcro wearing out. The Diva is a great option, but go with what fits you.

Dive safe!!

i have dove in several "women's" bc's (ladyhawk, libra, zena and athena) as well as a bp/w setup. personally, i prefer my diva lx over all of these for recreational diving (although all are good solid performers). for me, here are my pros/cons (many echo previous posters)

pro's - adjustable cummerbund for 'best' fit with all different mm. of wetsuit
- able to get a secure but not binding fit with my shorter torso (libra was
definitely too long for me).
- plenty of D rings
- nice big buckles for easy release at the shoulder even in gloves
- evenly balanced with good lumbar support when hiking to/from site w/ tank
- dragonfly design has not been prone to pocketing air on one side
underwater, as i have experienced in some back inflate systems.

cons - the pockets - poorly angled and hard to access underwater, esp. to
manipulate the zipper
- i have had to replace worn velcro once (after about 200 dives) on the
weight pockets.
- the rear trim weight pockets seem to always be in the way of securing the
tank in the mounts on boats (this is a function of placement on the tank tho
secondary to my short height)
- very very very stiff pull dump (although this is more than compensated by
the left shoulder dump - so in practice, you rarely use the pull dump except
when cleaning your valves after the dive)

hope this helps.

I agree with the concern about how the Diva packs, as SeaWitch mentioned.

It was suggested to me (on another thread) that removing the weight pockets helps a tad. It does...but don't forget to pack them!

yep, guess i left the bulk in packing off of the list of con's...

it helps (actually with any BC) to either lay it open/flat across the bottom of your bag and pack in and around it, or wrap your folded wetsuit up inside of it.

Sorry for butting in ladies, just saw diva lx

My partner has one of these and last week the LPI failed with the deflate button stuck on, turns out the dump cable had snapped and a small piece of metal (washer I think) had jammed in the mechanism. This BC was about 1 year old with c.40 dives on it, and yes she religiously rinsed and dried it after every dive.

I've got well over 150 dives on my Diva LX. I absolutely love it. The fit for me is better than the others, I love the Dragon-Fly designed wing and the lumbar supports.

I would agree though about the lack of packability (if that's a word <smile>) and I did have to have the velcro repaired where the weight pockets attach to the BC....but SeaQuest took care of this for free.

Peace,
Cathie
