Anyone know of a DIR compliant mask defog? I'm going diving with some DIR dudes next weekend and don't want to show up with my sea-drops when they are using spit. I just don't want to offend anyone. Should I consider bringing two bottles of defog for redundancy?

As long as the defog is located on the right hand, top pocket of your grear bag, looking front to back of course. The backup defog shall be placed in your mask box, but is shall be used as a back up system only

Make sure to bring extra spit. Hogarthian redudancy.

The backup defog . . .

Backup defog? Come on. Take what you need, nothing more, rely on your team. Everyone knows that the backup defog is your teammate's. Simply signal OODF, and your teammate will donate his or hers, best thing to do is doff your mask, "present" it lenses facing away from you (upright) holding on to the buckle of the mask (people often make the mistake of covering the lenses with their hands, preventing effective Defog Donation) and then allow your partner to spit into your mask.

There is a bit of a debate about whether your buddy should then help you stow (err, put back on) your mask, or whether that is something that you can do on your own. Regardless, rinsing of the mask prior to donning should be done with the team face-to-face, and while hovering motionlessly in the shallows.

Well I'm glad some people found this thread somewhat funny.

Try doing it any other way and you'll see why the suggestions above are valid. Why must you mock the only effective way of ensuring an unfogged mask?
