The Nikonos RS was way ahead of its time but for the price of a mortgage lol

I haven't heard anything about a digital Nikonos from Nikon.

However, my company, PiratePro, is making a product that will allow you to use Nikonos lenses underwater with an Olympus EP-1 digital camera. Here are some of the reviews of the prototype we brought to DEMA last month:

Nikonrumors just posted an interview with Nikon's Director of Laboratory Research and Development (hence the bump of an old thread). When asked about a digital nikonos his reply was "It is too early to answer this question. However, such a device many people interested, and personally I think the Nikonos reborn in the future." (from a google translation of the original interview that came out of a French rag).

Hmmm. Wonder if I should start keeping an eye open for some used Nikonos glass.

I doubt very much that it would use Nikonos classic glass. These
days, they would want an electronic interface to the lens. And it
would probably have a small sensor, likely even smaller than
the DSLR crop sensors, so the classic (and even RS) glass would
be too long.

I'd build something about the level of function of a Canon G10,
but waterproof. I don't think there's a market lower than that
when you can house a point and shoot so cheaply.

I'd inductively charge the battery and have wireless/bluetooth
picture download so you could do a whole week without opening
the camera. Maybe the charger is also the data receiver, providing
a USB cable that looks like the hard drive is on the end.
