One of the scariest activities in diving is opening up the camera housing replacing film or cards and hoping everything is dry and the o-rings are clean so that the camera is not flooded.

I would like to see a factory sealed digital camera that would have the following:

1) seperate sealed compartment for batteries so if it floods after replacement the camera would not be effected. A plug in for rechareable batteries would also get the job done.

2)In water changeable lenses, similiar to MX-10

3)a wireless download system that download to PC without opening the box. I suspect you could leave the PC running on the boat and see the pictures from there.

Unless I'm missing something this should all be easy to accomplish with existing technology.

Would anybody else be interested?

#2....Sea & Sea and INON are both producing macro and wide angle lenses that attach to the Olympus PT-10 housing, and I'm pretty sure with the Ikelite housing.

This could be done with inductive charging. Have you ever seen how some electric toothbrushes get charged. Look at how the modern UW lamps are charged. A camera could use the same technology.

As you say, this does exist.

With a Bluetooth CF card (TDK make one) this is possible. There is a distance limitation of around 10 meters, but any image taken while out of range gets stored and then transferred later.
