I have been using SP Jets size XL with a 11in spring strap from
http://www.spring-straps.com/
I am going to replace it with Halcyon's 12in (size XL). What I am wondering is that would this 1 inch difference is that significant? Is there any difference on the material of such straps?

wunat, its hard to answer your question because i dont know how well your springs fit. But for reference I wear size XL jets, with XL halcyon springs, and they fit perfect with my size 10 henderson octos. hope that helps. -Tom

Just found out the answer myself. 12 in is certainly too large for me. Does anyone knows how I can cut it. I think it would work well if I get it down to 11 in as with my older spring straps.

Thanks a ton!!!

I don't know the specifics of the attachment method to the fins, but I cut my Dad's springs by pushing a screwdriver between the spring coils. This causes somes of the coils to protrude a bit.

I then secured the spring in a vice, between two blocks of wood and sawed the protruding coil with a hacksaw. You actually only need to cut about half way, then you can stress the metal a bit by moving the end around. I was happier doing it this way, because I did not want to risk scoring adjacent coils. I had to dress the cut end a bit with a needle file.

I then bent two of the coils over with two needle nose pliers. This was the difficult part! It took me about an hour for two springs.

Cheers,

Andrew

Here is a link to where I had mine made. They actually make a custom length for me.

That is the same spring strap I had prior to trying out the Halcyon ones (because the shop I am helping out is a dealer of Halcyon products and think I could be a live showroom). I was using the 11in from them which fits me well. Halcyon ones only comes with 10 or 12 inches. 10in will be too short for me while 12in is too long.

Anyway, I have now went back to the old set of spring straps which I am happy with. Just don't want those Halcyon ones sitting around.
