Kathleen-

I've been looking at both of these on the web site. Other than the location of the quick releases and shoulder pads, what's the difference between the 2?

Thanks.

The Deluxe QR harness doesn't have the quick adjustable pull straps for the shoulder harness like the way the Transplate does. You size the Deluxe QR harness up the way you do a HOG rig and then you leave it there. With the Transplate, you have the two quick adjustable buckles that allow you to loosen up the harness, slide in then pull the straps down to tighten up everything.

Hey Artimas,

Nice post. There are several differences, the main one and most critical is the fact the TransPlate has sideplates located on the waist strap where the lower half of the shoulder strap is sewn into. You cannot see them from the pics on our website, unfortunately. These sideplates are adjustable and help give the TransPlate (and TransPac) that mountain backpack-style fit. You can see them better on one of our videos such as the TransPac fitting video (General).

Next, the Deluxe Harness has pivoting shoulders, but not adjustable shoulders. The TransPlate allows you to adjust the harness according to exposure protection, etc. See the acetyl buckles on the shoulder strap of the TransPlate.

If you want a continuous webbing harness, but need something that will be easy to don/doff (if you dive on boats in rough seas, for example) and will have a secure fit...the Deluxe is a nice harness for that. If you want a harness that will give you the support of mountaineers backpack and provide more adjustability and comfort, go with the TransPlate.

I hope this helps,
Kathleen
