I was looking at regulators and was wondering what the difference was between the Mares Abyss 05 and the Mares Abyss. Has anybody had any experience with any of these? The 05 is $100 more on leisurepro - so I figured it would be worth asking.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong but I think that the differences are only cosmetic. The new one has a different face plate on the second stage. IMO, the old one looks better.
I have the Abyss 2000 and it's a great reg. Took it through couple hundred dives and it always performed flawlessly regardless how cold or deep.

Hey Jason, The Abyss 05 second stage has a new metal mesh cover weight is 9.7 oz.
First stage has a dediated primary second stage port. 1/2" thread size other LP ports are 3/8". Only thing is its set back behind the secondary port. I suppose the thinking is that its closer to the air intake. The v32 has the same configuration. How much better it works I don't know. Check in with me before you order.
