POSTED: 7:44 am CDT September 2, 2005
UPDATED: 7:45 am CDT September 2, 2005

CHICAGO -- Chicago Fire Department scuba divers on a routine drill made an unsual discovery this week at Monroe Harbor.

They found a submerged shopping cart that contained bags of jewelry. Much of it was antique and heirloom quality.

Investigators determined the jewelry came from a Belmont Avenue store that had been burglarized.

I once found a pinball machine with a heavy chain wrapped around it in Burnham Harbor (Chicago) The occupant had apparently slipped away some time earlier.

wow i wonder if someone planned on recovering it

Wow. Never know what you'll find on what we would probably consider an undesirable dive
