Hi all,
I'm almost done setting up my New Freedom Backplate rig. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Deep Sea Supply Pro-Fit Adjustable Harness. I'll mostly be diving quarries and Lake Erie. I'm new to this so I'd like to hear any opinions I can get. Thanks

Mark

Especially if you're new to backplates, start off with a simple "hog" style harness. You'll likely not need or want the "deluxe" style. The VAST majority of BP/W users swear by the hog style (and quite a few swear at the deluxe style).

If you're still unsure, give Tobin at Deep Sea Supply a call. I'm confident that, unless you have a medical issue limiting your upper body mobility, he'll recommend the simple hog harness - even though it's cheaper.

Tried it for about 10 dives. Didn't like it. Went to a standard Hog harness. Much better. The DSS stuff is all extremely well made, though. Start with the simpler option (Hog) and give it a fair shot (~10 dives). If after that, you NEED a "deluxe" harness, go ahead and give it a try. Might as well save the money to start, however, especially when the Hog harness is the better option for most.

I did the deluxe harness from another manufacturer, and I know I dive a DIY Hog harness.

You'll love it.

Here's a link to an excellent resource on adjusting your new hog harness. BAUE How To Size a Backplate

When you dive with it, let us know how it works for you.

The "deluxe" adj ones are too gadgety, expensive, uncomfortable, unnecessary features,... what?

Thanks!
