Was wondering if anyone keeps an extra hose on his or her rig for the purpose of inflating a closed circuit bag. If so, how is it store or clipped off.
On the flip side, are there reasons for not doing so other than the obvious clutter.
Thanks

Sounds like just another leaky hose to me.
Wonder what would happen if you tried to set it off underwater attached to your hose, now that would be a giggle.

I much prefer open DSMB's, wth some decent lift 25lbs+, you can shoot them from depth and they make a nice spot to hang for deco. Of course make sure you get one with a oneway opening and a OP Valve.

And when diving around boats and doing free ascents they are an absolute must, heard a girl got hit by a prop the other day, very sad indeed.

Ive seen some that take a BC or drysuit hose and struck me as a poor idea and a solution to a problem that doesnt exist.

Using your alternative air source/octopus is more than adequate for DSMB. If you dont want that, you can buy small cheap air guns that fit onto LP hoses.

Or a better solution again is a self inflating DSMB with its own cylinder.

Im not a fan of purging regs in cold water so most of the time use my self inflating DSMB, resorting to the octo when i forget to fill the bottle or have to demo it.

A good news is that the inflator/blower attachment that you use on the end of the hose is difficult to freeflow, and can be disconnected if it does.

The bad news is that the flow rate from the blower is pretty lame, so you'll be holding the lift bag longer than necessary while inflating.

It's sort of a coin toss. I tried one a few times, but decided I liked using my alternate instead of the blower.

The type of DSMB I was considering is the Halcyon which has a shrader type valve that will not lock onto the disconnect. seems that carrying the hose would be about the same as carrying one of the air guns on a hose.
I have a semi closed marker now and don't have a conventional octo so must remove my reg from my mouth to inflate.
I think the self inflating DSMB would be something to look at, but they are not available to the best of my knowledge in the States.
I have used my dive alert to inflate my safety sausage. Very Cool.
Thanks.

What sort of Octo are you using ?
The AirII's and Octo+ also work fine to inflate the bag.

I presently have a necklaced second stage, but will be installing Atomic SS1.
Any special technique for inflating the bag with Air2, octo,ss1...hose being relatively short?
Thanks

Use the Air2 to breathe from and use the longer hosed main reg to inflate.
You dont want these things close when sending them up - that includes the host type connectors.
