I have narrowed choice for u/w camera down to the Canon A85 with wp-dc900 housing or the Oly D580. I don't know what housing the Oly will need. So advice on that would be helpful. My question is which of these two cameras will be the easiest to learn and use for a first timer at digital underwater photos. Which one has the most available add-ons for lenses? Money is a factor here so any advice would be appreciated. Also which one has best viewfinder. I have to wear contacts when diving. I see fine at distance but not close up.

The housing for the D580 is the PT-021. The D580 is a straight-forward point-and-shoot camera and probably the easiest to learn and use.
IMO the Canon A85 is probably the better camera for UW use, especially if you plan to add strobes etc to it later on. The A85 has a point-and-shoot mode which will just be like the D580 to start with. As you progress you can use Manual mode, essential (IMO) when you add strobes. The A85 is a camera you can grow with.

Not familiar with either....but if only one had movie capability...thats the one I would go with.
Consider that.
