Do you believe that there is a relationship with the frequency of DCS symptons cases and gender? For example are women more susceptable than men to DCS? OR Are women more likely to report symptoms of DCS compared to men who may be more prone to denial of those same symptoms?

Dear SCUBA SOURCE Readers:

Gender and DCS

The literature describing DCS and gender differences is not clear. In some analyses of actual dive data in military divers, there is not any evidence to support the conclusion that women are at a risk greater than men’s.

In general, if the differences are truly that small – or specific to a certain dive situation – chances are that you will not encounter them in your recreational diving experience.
