Well the two I have been to are "The" Dive Shop in Fairfax and Splash in Alexandria. I am more familiar with Splash, though since I did my class and pool work with them. I think they are a ScubaPro dealer but that is it... I don't remember what brands The DIve Shop carries. Both were okay from my experiences with them...

Oh..one other place is National Scuba Center on Wisconsin Ave... I went in once to get a reg bench tested before a trip. The guy was really helpful and I ended up buying a reg bag from him since he did the test for free. Nice guy...

If you go to the manuf website you can usually pull a list of dealers. If you check the ones you are looking for you can cross reference to get which dealer has the most brands you ar elooking for. Also try this post in the Mid Atlantic section of the board.

I like Sea Ventures in Fairfax Va, there located on 236 in the shopping center off Pickett. Their staff is friendly and they carry the brands that I like: Scubapro, OMS, Halcyon ect... The Dive Shop is ok too, but I find that due to their larger size I get less attention when I need help.

"The" Dive Shop in Fairfax, all the way.

I'm pretty new to diving and in my enthusiasm I visited every... and I mean every shop in the area a couple of times. I've bought gear from all and took classes with a couple of shops.

"The" Dive Shop comes out ahead in each and every regard. Stock is more extensive and the staff is friendlier and more knowledgeable about any topic you can come up with.

On the down side, they don't carry ScubaPro nor Zeagle (I dive both). Zeagle you can get at Aquatic Adventures in Alexandria on Rte. 1 and ScubaPro you can go to SeaVentures right around the corner from "The" Dive Shop or National Dive Center in DC. I don't have any major nor even specific complaints about any of these three I've just never gotten the friendly, stay-all-day-just-to-shoot-the-bull-if-you-like feeling I get from the folks at John Wall's.

I like Sea Colony in Md on Rt.2 between Severn and Annapolis. I try to stay away from Annapolis scuba, they are expensive and I don't like the service. (took a couple of tanks in for VIP, after two weeks they were still not done, and they offered to "rent" me a couple of tanks to hold me over) If you end up as far south as Norfolk I recommend Lynnhaven Dive Center and The Dive Quarters, both in Virginia Beach. Great shops, great service, nice folks.
