I have a DC500 with two Digital Pro Flashes. How do I take a photo with natural light in the backround but a flash to light up the front portion of the picture? Is it possible to do this with this camera? When I use only the SEA setting too much "green" water shows up and you lose the colors of the sea life in the forefront of the picture. When I use external flash setting the backround is black and only what you shoot is illuminated.

Also, is there a major difference in the photography with upgrading to a DC1200?

I just learned that on landscape pictures or scenery pics, you have to angle the strobe s on a almost 45 deg angle away from the subject. this will give you long range pictures........Haven't tried it yet though, it also alleviates back-scatter.

Not sure about the Dc1200 i have the DC1000 maxx here are some pictures to see for yourself, one can only hope the DC1200 would have better pictures!!!

Thanks for your tip. Have you tried this in NJ or only in the carribean? Do you have and pics with your camera from NJ?

I've never dove with my camera in NJ and the reason is, in NJ i hunt and in the Caribbean you can't take anything. So that is my reason for not taking pictures in NJ. One day I may try it out.

I know what you are talking about, my husband likes to hunt here too. Taking pictures is much harder in NJ than in the caribean. My pictures come out really well in clear water, its up here with little or no natural light that makes it difficult. Thanks for your input anyway and have a safe season!
