Sorry everyone on vacation down there are missing out on diving, that is a total bummer when you look forward to it for so long and the weather doesn't coorperate.
I myself am headed north from Texas to Kansas and SINGLE DIGIT weather, no diving there!!!!
Here's a hope and a prayer that everything straightens up down there and business and leasure get back to normal,
Merry Christmas and God Bless to all,
Marc 'The Shark'

The good news is that the harbor master opened the port to boats over 30 feet at about 10:00 and I was able to get 5 of my people out. The other 6 opted to do the "wild side" island tour today.

I'm still cold though...I don't know WHAT I am going to do when I'm actually home during WINTER!

Christi, just went for a dive up here in British Columbia two weekends ago and the temp at depth was 46 Fahrenheit. Toasty! Up here, when there are strong surface swells, it usually calms down once you go below 15 ft. Is it the same in Coz as well? Or are surface conditions indicative of conditions u/w?

Christi:
The port was closed yesterday morning to all boats under 40 ft (which basically means everyone - there are a couple of boats over 40 ft) The port opened for a snap second yesterday afternoon and a few boats tried to go out, only to have to come right back in.

Winds are at 25mph from the north with gusts up to 30mph. Current temperature is 68º F

Today, the port is again closed to all boats under 40 ft, and all shore based aquatic activities including snorkeling and shore diving.

I feel terrible for the people here on vacation that cannot dive.

Hopefully these winds will blow through and all will be back to normal tomorrow. :snorkel:

You have my sympathy...I know what it's like to have diving cancelled for a few days. HOWEVER, last night here in Ottawa temp was -30C with windchill -46C. See you in 6 weeks !!

My wife and I will be there tomorrow. I hope the weather breaks, but according to wunderground.com there is a thunder storm coming in Thursday and Friday. (sigh)

Do not despair; take that wunderground prediction with a grain of salt. Last May I was on Cozumel for 12 days, and the wunderground site predicted either "thunderstorms" or "chance of a thunderstorm" for every single day I was there. It rained a total of two times for about 10 minutes each time from very small isolated cells, and the rest of the time we had scattered clouds and plenty of sun.

Thanks for the optimism ggun. We just arrived in Coz today and it doesn't look too bad. Lots of clouds and some rain. I'm hoping you're right!

Afternoon showers are pretty normal...but they don't last long :) Have fun!!!
