I'm thinking about bidding on a surplus Davey compresssor and was looking for some input. Does anyone have an idea what they go for at auction? They seem to be real beast's and I was wondering how difficult it is to convert them to filling scuba tanks. Can these compressor's be used to pump nitrox?

I don't have a real need for a compressor to fill my tanks but thought this would be a neat hobby/project so I'm trying to get an idea what it might end up costing.

I have 2 of them. Go to ebay and see bargainmarge http://stores.ebay.com/BargainMarge_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm. She has several in stock for around $1800. I've purchased 4 so far from military surplus, and typically spend somewhere around $800/ea. It will take several hundred dollars to convert the internals (filters, food-grade compressor oil, etc...) then you're looking at around $500 for whips and blocks (to fill 4 tanks at a time). Buy the manual from bargainmarge, then get her must have list...

No not at all. If I do try this it will take some time but I'll keep notes on the important parts.
