I guess as a diver I need to read the news forums more often. I read on CDNN that there is a problem with DAN insurance if you need recompression. I am a DAN member with my renewal time coming up at the end of June. I am getting ready to set sail on the Juliet next week to the Bahamas where I understand this problem with DAN is going on. I have printed off info on DiveAssure and DiveSafe, nothing on DSI yet though. I guess I should get insured with one of them before I take off next week right? If anyone has info on which one is the preferred I'd appreciate the heads up. Thanks.:06:

The Juliet will not evacuate to the Bahamas chamber because it is too far away. They will go back to Miami. I already asked them since we are sailing with them in 4 weeks. No worries there.

If you go to the DAN website you will get the other side of the story. CDNN did their scare mongering and then didn't follow up with DAN's response-that I could see.

Please post a trip report on the Juliet. I can wait to go in June.

BTW, CDNN is not known as the most reliable news source and there is much more to the story. There's been several threads discussing it. You can't search easily for DAN as it's 3 letters (doesn't work in a search here and DAN* will get all sorts of junk) - but just try searching on "insurance."

I actually sent them an e-mail inquiring about this.. They sent me a response with a link on the DAN site to read about the issue being resolved. If anyone is interested here it is:

It was pretty cut and dry. I did look into DiveAssure and their coverage is very good and comprehensive. It costs more than DAN on 1 plan, less on a different plan. Good to know that my DAN is good should anything happen next week. Will report back after the trip. Thanks for the feedback.
